One minute, in the chair you are in
Nobody will notice. If your eyes stay open, rest them on a fixed point a metre or so away and let them go soft.
- Put both feet flat on the floor and let your hands rest where they fall.
- Take one breath that is longer on the way out than on the way in. Just one.
- Feel the chair holding you: the seat under your legs, the back against your spine.
- Notice three sounds in the room without deciding whether you like them.
- Notice the temperature of the air on your hands and your face.
- Take one more long exhale, then go back to what you were doing. Do not evaluate how it went.
